How can I get help finding aged care services?

If you need help finding an aged care service or assistance organising residential aged care you can contact your nearest aged care assessment team (ACAT).

ACAT assess the needs of older people and assist in finding appropriate community care or aged care services to help with care at home or in an aged care home.

If you are worried an older family member is not coping at home alone or you are not sure if a loved one needs residential aged care contact your local ACAT team for help.

To be eligible for a place in a government sponsored aged care home an individual must first have an ACAT assessment. This assessment will determine whether a person needs care in a low or high level aged care facility.

Anyone can contact an aged care assessment team and an assessment is free. You can get a referral from your doctor, carer, family member or contact ACAT directly.
