Swivel cushions: Easy car transfers

Swivel cushions make getting into and out of the car easier and safer. This comfy swivel cushion rotates allowing the user to easily transfer into the car without straining the back, hips or knees.

People with poor mobility, arthritis and stroke can benefit from using a swivel chair. The swivel cushion can also fit most wheelchairs and chairs to assist with transfers.

Swivel cushions:

  • Increase user independence
  • Reduce strain on the carer
  • Assist with mobility, transfers and handling

Swivel cushions can be purchased at pharmacies, online or at leading medical and rehabilitation equipment stores.

For people who have problems transferring such as after a broken hip or stroke, seek the help of an occupational therapist. A health professional is the best person to demonstrate how to transfer safely into the car.

I agree! Independent Living Centres around Australia are a great resource for anyone searching for professional help when buying assistive aids. I would advise carers to give ILC a call!

You can also get more information about equipment to help with getting in and out of the car from your local Independent Living Centre. Independent Living Centre (ILC) is an information and advisory service about assistive technology. Assistive technology is anything that can help you do a task. They have Occupational Therapists who can help you decide what you need. Solutions can involve equipment, changing a technique, using a service, handy hints or adapting something you can find around the home. They are a non profit organisation and do not sell equipment. Call 1300 885 886 to be connected to your local Independent Living Centre. There is one located in each state of Australia!
