How can I find a culturally appropriate aged care home?

For many people finding a suitable aged care home can be difficult. People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds can find the process even more frustrating.

Most aged care homes do not cater for the diverse needs of older people from other cultures. However, an increasing number of aged care organisations are recognising the value of ethno-specific services and programs.

The NSW Transcultural Aged Care Service (TACS) can help you find ethno-specific aged care homes, community groups and community aged care packages in your area.

A number of interesting articles also appear in the (TACS) Diversity Age Newsletter.

To find out the care options for people from diverse cultures visit NSW Transcultural Aged Care Service (TARS) at www.cs.nsw.gov.au
