Elder abuse - What is elder abuse ?
Elder abuse takes many forms. It can happen at home or in residential care. Elder abuse can be obvious physical abuse such as hitting someone or it can be more subtle abuse like intimidation. Neglect of an individual's basic needs and failure to provide adequate medical care can constitute elder abuse.
Extended Aged Care At Home (EACH)
Extended Aged Care At Home (EACH) is a community aged care package that allows older people with complex care needs to be cared for at home. A package of care is co-ordinated based on individual care needs and subsidised by the government.
Enduring power of attorney
An enduring power of attorney needs to be appointed to ensure that the person elected can continue to make decisions on a person's behalf should they become mentally incapacitated or of unsound mind.
End of life care
End of life care is commonly referred to as palliative care. Palliative care is the specialised care of people with a terminal illness. The aim of palliative care is to promote good quality of life, increase comfort and support people and their families at this stage of their lives.
