Aged Care Act 1997

The Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing is responsible for the management, funding and regulation of aged care providers and services.

Aged care services and providers have to comply with certain standards of care as outlined in The Aged Care Act 1997. The Aged Care Act 1997 covers residential care and community care.
