Need help with bathroom after stroke
Just wondering if anyone has modified their home for someone after a stroke? I would like to install hand rails and other modifications for my mum (as advised by the hospital) who is well enough to go home after a recent stroke. I'm hoping her condition improves so didn't want to completely redo a brand new bathroom but she only has a bath and no shower recess so wondering what my options are to make bathing easier for her. She lives alone.
Word of caution, get someone who knows what they are doing. Normal bath rails are not the same as grab rails for getting in and out of baths they are just not strong enough. You don't need a fancy new bath just a safe way for her to get clean. She may get more independence as time goes on (especially if she is encouraged to do things for herself) Ask someone at an Independent Living Centre or an OT.
