Confused over aged care bonds
I've heard aged care homes can charge bonds as high as $100, 000, is this the case? Can a nursing home charge what they like? I'm looking for a low- care place for my mum and can't afford a bond that high.

I got help from a financial firm that dealt only in aged care. I had to move my parents into a low care facility with little notice and found it really difficult to do on my own. Dealing with the paperwork was in itself a mindful let alone figuring out what they could afford. It's a tricky business and bonds in low care can vary greatly. Suggest you get help before you approach a nursing home!!
I agree, very confusing. I was lucky, my sister is an accountant and we made her responsible for the finances. I don't think we could have coped with the money side of things at the time on top of everything else. My brother and I helped dad with the move and gave more emotional support. Paper work was endless and the move very emotional. Don't let anyone push you into accepting a place you're not comfortable with emotionally and financially.
